My Broken Hip

Hello and good thoughts to all.
I have news about myself which is not so good . I fell in my TV room and broke my right hip. At first I was very angry with myself for doing that but everyone convinced me it was an unfortunate accident.
I was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital where I had surgery not a replacement but a repair. Because of it was a repair job I must keep all weight off for eight or nine weeks then I will be able to practice walking again. This procedure requires my hopping on one foot (using walker) then getting into a wheel chair. Enough, but think of me and I know it will help.

After surgery I went to Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Hospital for very serious therapy They were terrific.
Initially the people at Robinson Hospital didnt want to send me there because they said I was too old and would not be able to handle it. But I proved them wrong I did great and am continuing therapy at home.

Me at Edwin Shaw Rehab Hospital

Anyway I am home and have home help from Visiting Nurses Assn and I am doing good . I am patiently waiting for the time I will be able to get back to normal, which the doctor assures me will be no problem. Says I will be to walk, run and hop but just between you and me I will settle for a nice leisurely walk.

I am now able to put all my weight on my right leg and am getting around with a walker and learning to walk again.

Holiday News

The last Christmas of the 20th century is now in the past. That really seems so final. In reality it is a new start and so far all is well with the world - and of course with the computers. They are really a very mysterious invention. I think they were made to frustrate us little people!!

Had a great Christmas dinner with all our loved ones together. It was a nice climax to all Christmases past.

I welcomed the New Year quietly at home - called Barby and Jack to wish them the best and had a pork dinner to welcome the new year.

Uncle Joe Mervar is in the hospital with pneumonia but I think he will be okay.

Not much more but my usual attempt at being a poet, so here goes...

TO ALL A HAPPY NEW YEAR

FOR THE PAST - SHED A LITTLE TEAR

REMEMBER ALL THE GOOD AND BAD

AND ALL THE GREAT TIMES WE HAD

SO SMILE AND BE NICE
